Established in 1999 as Northern Insurance & Finance Brokers the company underwent a facelift in 2010 adopting the Optimus 1 name which is derived from the latin term meaning 'the best one'. The name was chosen to better reflect the current positioning of the business and the growth that has been achieved over the past decade.

We have used our bank for insurance for many years but a few years ago we had to contact them and complain that the insurance was raising it's premiums way beyond reason and so it was reevaluated, a new insurance company had taken it over and the median home was 2 story brick, tiled roof, swimming pool and marble floors probably in some upmarket suburb of Melbourne and we own a concrete block, inside and out, longer on level ground in FNQ not worth the $800+ range so they went through our build and reduced it by $1.5K. over the last few years the price had gone up substantially again but from

Used Optimus 1 for our home insurance for three years. Never wowed with the service, we'd just get an annual update telling us that the insurance premiums would be increasing. Decided to do our own check this year and another broker quickly found an identical policy for 20% less, saving us over $600/year. No explanation from Ben when my partner told him, just an automated cancellation email in response. Pretty poor effort. Some great reviews from others that I see, but that unfortunately wasn't our experience.

I have been a client Of Optimus 1 (Terry) for over 15 years and I wouldn't make any insurance decisions without his advice or approval. We have all of our personal insurances and business insurances with the company. We are high risk with multiple vehicles and Optimus was the only brave company to take us on in the early days and they get the job done year in and year out.
