Your Local Pub with Stunning Beach Views
Established in 1886, The Beach Hotel has been a cornerstone of the Merewether community for over a century. Located directly opposite Merewether Beach, our venue celebrates the coastal lifestyle that defines our local culture. We pride ourselves on preserving the heritage of our building while offering modern amenities across three distinct levels. Our ground floor Public Bar combines nostalgic charm with panoramic ocean views, while Peregrin on level two delivers elevated seaside dining inspired by Newcastle's industrial history. Larries, our street-front kiosk, reimagines classic Australian beachside fare with a contemporary twist. We champion local produce from the Hunter region, curate an extensive selection of regional wines and craft beers, and host weekly events that bring the community together.

Our commitment to sustainability is evident in our partnerships with local fishermen and farmers. The hotel's design incorporates original heritage elements that tell the story of Merewether's evolution. We maintain strong ties with local initiatives through sponsorships and fundraising efforts. Our team's deep understanding of hospitality ensures every guest experiences genuine coastal warmth. The Beach Hotel remains a place where both locals and visitors create lasting memories through shared experiences.

I paid 110 a night for a room that was no bigger than my downstairs toilet with dirty sheets a mouldy toilet and mouldy shower which didn't work there were hall way doors spring loaded these would continue to make the room shake all night as people banged them against a wall and to top it off the room was above some sort of function room where they proceeded to party with loud music until around 1am if I wanted to try and get some sleep in a nightclub I could have for around 10 not 110 jump to the morning to receive a stone cold breakfast without toast as nobody informed me or my partner

My husband and I have had the most amazing weekend at The Beaches Hotel. Our room had the most fantastic sea view that I could have sat at all day. We dined both evenings in the restaurant, the food was divine and the Maitre d Jeff, brought a whole new level of dining experience to us, he is an absolute gem, nothing was too much trouble and we loved his stories. We were spoilt to breakfast in our room on both mornings, thank you to lovely Sue who kindly made that possible for us, you were amazing. Although we have been visiting Wales for over 30 years, it was our first visit to The Beaches Hotel

Stayed there for a night last night. We arrived there 1:10pm trying to check in but was told check in from 2pm. We had the wedding at 2pm so we asked them to check in late around 12 and 12:30am and no problem. We got back to the hotel around 12:20am checking in was fine, went in the room and found out the toilet was very dirty but we need to use it. I rang the receptionist asking her to put the note down that the toilet in our room was dirty and I will speak to someone more in the morning as I thought it was too late there wouldnt be any cleaner are in the hotel this time. I hanged up the phone

Booked a night here recently on booking.com for family reunion. On arrival there was a slight hitch in booking but this was sorted immeduately by nice lady at reception desk. Hotel itself was lovely, clean, friendly staff and food from restaurant was excellent - plenty of and tasty. Nice location right on seafront so handy for a early morning dip in sea or hotel pool whatever takes yr fancy. Seems popular for weddings as there was one going on day we arrived and following day. Hotel also has some chalets adjacent to hotel for rent/hire so plenty options to choose from. Most definitely recommend
