Services
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy at Active Physio Health addresses musculoskeletal and neurological conditions through manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and lifestyle education. Our clinicians assess joint, muscle, and nerve issues to create treatment plans that reduce pain and restore function. With expertise in sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, and chronic pain management, we utilise evidence-based techniques to improve mobility and prevent future injuries. Treatments incorporate patient education to ensure long-term health benefits.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy sessions use heated pools to facilitate low-impact exercise for joint replacements, arthritis, and mobility impairments. Our qualified clinicians supervise water-based rehabilitation that enhances muscle strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. This therapy is particularly effective for post-injury recovery, neurological conditions, and chronic pain management. The buoyancy of water reduces stress on joints while allowing resistance training for improved physical function.
Remedial Massage
Remedial massage targets structural imbalances and muscle tension through deep tissue techniques. This service improves circulation, reduces pain, and enhances recovery from sports injuries or repetitive strain. Our therapists use myofascial release and trigger point therapy to address postural dysfunctions and stress-related conditions. Regular sessions promote relaxation while supporting musculoskeletal health and injury prevention.
Dry Needling
Dry needling treats musculoskeletal pain by inserting fine needles into trigger points to release muscle tightness and improve blood flow. This technique effectively addresses chronic pain, sports injuries, and movement restrictions. When combined with physiotherapy, it accelerates recovery by reducing inflammation and restoring normal muscle function. Our clinicians integrate this method into comprehensive treatment plans for optimal outcomes.
Pregnancy Massage
Specialised pregnancy massage alleviates physical discomforts associated with pregnancy, including back pain, swelling, and joint strain. Using gentle techniques tailored to each trimester, this service improves circulation, reduces stress, and enhances maternal well-being. Our therapists focus on postural adjustments and muscle relaxation to support a comfortable pregnancy and prepare the body for labour.

Professional and personable, but my experience of treatment has varied. Following their advice for one problem did lead to an improvement over the long term. Following their advice for another problem made it vastly worse, with enormous personal ramifications.

Really enjoyed the experience. My exercises were crafted around the gear that I have at home. Didnt have to buy expensive gym gear. Over three sessions, a comprehensive program has been put together.

I was travelling and staying in the Gladstone Region and needed some therapy. I contacted Active Physio Health in Tannum Sands and met Eric Wahlander. He is an excellent Physiotherapist, friendly and very informative. Eric also refered me to Elizabeth Orr at the Glanstone branch for Accupuntute.
Elizabeth is highly skilled in her field of accupunture, she put me at ease and provided me with relief from the pain I was enduring at the time. I strongly recommend the Active Physio Health team from reception to treatment everyone that I interacted with was happy, friendly and very professional.

Excellent service and care. We have been going to Active Physio for the last few years for all sorts of injuries - knees, hips, back pain, etc. and are very happy with the treatment we have received. They are knowledgeable, thorough in the treatment process, clearly explaining what causes the problem and showing us some follow-up exercises. Highly recommended!
